Park Amenities
Playground
The park district partnered with the Kiwanis Club of Anderson Hills to renovate the “Lucky Lanier All-Children’s Playground” and create a unique and innovative play space, accessible to children of varying abilities. The playground components are easily reachable by ramp and by transfer platform, and include a swing structure and ADA approved sand surfacing.
The Veterans Park Playground complement’s another inclusive play environment at Beech Acres Park.
Athletic Fields
Depending on the season, Veterans Park offers a top-notch, competition level ball diamond and two soccer fields.
Hike/Bike Trail
.4 miles of paved and gravel trail. Veterans Park features a hiking path around the perimeter of the park. The portion of the path through the woods is gravel; the portion near the parking lot is paved. Dogs are permitted on the trail and must be on a 6′ leash at all times.
The trail also features 5 Parcourse FitCircuit stations, including knee lift, chin-up, sit-up, push-up, and bench dip. Thanks to Eagle Scout, John Kammerer, from Troop #445 for raising over $4000 and installing the Parcourse FitCircuit equipment. Many thanks to the following donors: Penn Station, A & A Safety, Mercy Health Plex, PNC Bank, and Doctor’s Committee.
