Known Limitations
Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility of Anderson Park District website, there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations. Please contact us if you observe an issue not listed below.
Images
Some images on our website may currently lack text alternatives. We are in the process of conducting a comprehensive audit to identify these images and will add appropriate alt text to ensure accessibility for users with visual impairments.
Please note that certain pages, such as those for past events, may still have images without text alternatives as we prioritize making current information accessible.
LayerSlider
We utilize LayerSlider on our homepage to showcase information about upcoming events. Please be aware that these slides are primarily images and may currently lack text alternatives, which can affect accessibility for users with visual impairments.
For a more accessible experience, detailed information about upcoming events is also available on our dedicated events calendar page and in the sidebar of each page throughout the site. We are committed to improving accessibility and will work towards adding appropriate text alternatives to the images in LayerSlider.
PDFs
Some PDFs may not be fully accessible or may lack proper tagging and text alternatives. This issue may occur due to the creation of PDFs from scanned documents or images without proper accessibility features. We are currently reviewing all PDFs on our website to assess their accessibility. For those that do not meet accessibility standards, we will be recreating some PDFs as HTML versions to ensure they are fully accessible.
Some registration forms and policy agreements are currently available as PDF documents. We recognize that this can be a barrier. For alternative methods, including in-person, mail, email, and fax options, please visit our Additional Ways to Register page.
Events Calendar Plugin
The website uses the WordPress plugin The Events Calendar to manage and display event information. We are currently testing our implementation of this plugin to identify any potential accessibility barriers and will work to remedy them to the fullest extent possible. If you encounter any accessibility barriers when using our calendar, please contact us so we can work with you to find a solution.
From The Events Calendar’s Accessibility Page – While The Events Calendar incorporates several accessibility features, it’s important to note that it doesn’t claim full compliance with ADA or WCAG guidelines. According to the developers, “some areas may not completely meet ADA or WCAG guidelines, and we don’t claim complete compliance”.
Accessibility of Third-Party Services
Anderson Parks utilizes third-party vendors to provide certain services and information to our residents. We have identified that some of these digital platforms, including RecDesk and RainoutLine, may present accessibility barriers for some users.
We believe everyone should have equal access to park district services. Therefore, we provide the following alternative options:
For Program & Event Registration and Facility Reservations (RecDesk)
We use RecDesk for online event and program registration and facility reservations. If you encounter barriers using the RecDesk portal, you can register and reserve by mail, email, fax, or in person. Printable forms, office hours, and complete contact details are available on our Additional Ways to Register page.
For Field & Activity Status (RainoutLine)
RainoutLine is the park district’s notification system to inform residents about the status of fields, facilities, and park district programs and events. As an alternative, we provide a telephone hotline for status updates. Please visit our Field & Activity Status page for the hotline number and complete instructions.
