Veterans Park Parking Lot Expansion and Trail Extension Project

Veterans Park is getting significant parking and path upgrades to keep the park safe and accessible.

The parking improvement project includes asphalt overlay of the existing parking lot and a parking lot expansion which will add 52 additional spots.

The paths project provides accessibility to park amenities and adds more paths:

1. Overlay existing asphalt path from existing parking lot to the playground.
2. New asphalt paved loop trail through the core of the park providing accessibility to park amenities (parking lot to baseball diamond to basketball court and looping back to the parking lot).
3. Asphalting portions of the existing gravel trail.
4. New side paths from Forest Road to the park creating safer pedestrian access.

Veterans Park upgrades are expected to be completed in the fall of 2024.

*Parking lot will be closed intermittently through the completion of the project for parking lot paving.

The funding for this project is a result of the Anderson Parks 25-year Park Improvement Plan approved by voters in November of 2023.  The 1 mill capital levy is dedicated to improvement projects in the parks, focused on the 6 Ps: Paths, Potties, Parking, Playgrounds, Pickleball, and Playability.
