Coaches Corner

Interested in becoming a coach? Park district youth basketball and volleyball leagues are coached by volunteers. Coaches are vital to our leagues and without a coach, teams are unable to play. The children of the head and assistant coaches will be assigned to the same team.

Once the park district assigns a coach to a team, the following paperwork will be required. The recreation department will communicate the timeline when paperwork must be submitted.

Please note: The training is approximately 50 minutes. In the top right corner, sign-in or register for an account. Select state and order the course (it is free). Go to my courses (or dashboard at the top) to begin concussion training. At the end of the training, please print the completion certificate with your name on it to submit to the park district.
Lindsay’s Law Training Completion

Lindsay’s Law is about Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) in youth athletes. This law went into effect in 2017. Under Lindsay’s Law, coaches are required to complete the annual SCA training course approved by the Ohio Department of Health.

Coaches Award

Coaches are eligible to receive the “Chip Rosser Coaches Award”, a distinguished award for coaches in park district basketball and volleyball leagues who have demonstrated their “big-picture” understanding of youth sports.

The award is given annually in honor of the late Anderson Township resident Chip (Alan) Rosser, for his exemplary character and passion for youth sports. Coach Rosser built a “pay it forward” legacy, focused on serving the kids on his team who would one day grow up to carry on positive values learned in youth sports.

To nominate a coach, please email the coach’s name and why they deserve the award.

Nominations can also be submitted on the basketball or volleyball evaluation form sent to all parents and coaches.
