RecPlex History
The Beech Acres Parenting Center has been caring for Greater Cincinnati families for over 160 years. In 2004, Beech Acres Parenting Center and Anderson Park District entered into a partnership, with the lease of the Parenting Center’s indoor recreation center, now known as the RecPlex. This exciting community partnership serves their mission of “Strengthening Families for Children,” while providing necessary income for ongoing programs.
Anderson Park District has leased a portion of the RecPlex, formerly the Geiger Center, from the Beech Acres Parenting Center since 1990. In 1994, the opportunity for the Park District to lease the entire building presented itself. The Anderson Park District jumped at the chance to expand its offerings for youth and adults. Activities such as Summer Camps, Basketball Leagues, Cornhole Leagues, children’s programs, Jr. High Park Parties and art classes, take place year round. Check out the Park Guide for a current list of programs.
The RecPlex operates on a 100% cost-recovery basis. Partnerships, sponsorships and fees for programs, events, and rentals go toward covering the cost of operation.
We are grateful that the Beech Acres Parenting Center has offered this pivotal opportunity to the Anderson Park District. This lease enables the Park District to better balance our offerings and reach across the generations in the provision of recreational services.
