Ken Kushner Announces Resignation from Anderson Park District
The Anderson Park District (APD) announces the resignation of Executive Director Ken Kushner, who has served the organization with dedication and distinction for 32 years.
Ken began his career with the APD in April 1993 as an Operations Specialist in the Maintenance Department. He played a key role in maintaining the parks’ cleanliness, safety and appeal-values that continue to define the APD today. From mowing grass and prepping ball diamonds to laying mulch and managing park beautification, Ken contributed to every detail of the park experience.
As Operations Manager beginning in 1998 through his tenure as Executive Director from July 2007 through today, Ken, with a dedicated staff and boards, enjoyed maintaining and renovating beautiful park spaces such as Juilfs, Kellogg, Veterans and Laverty Lane. Ken also had a major hand in building new parks, such as Riverside, Clear Creek, Beech Acres, W. M. Johnson Hills, and State & Nagel, that did not exist when he first joined the APD. Those parks are now gems of Anderson Township where Ken has lived for 56 years.
Ken’s vision, leadership, and commitment have left a lasting legacy on the Anderson Park District and the community it serves. Ken will forever cherish the dedicated staff of the Park District.
During a special meeting held on Tuesday, July 1, the Board of Park Commissioners appointed Kim Farrell as Interim Executive Director. Mrs. Farrell will serve in this role through the end of the year, allowing the Board time to consider its next steps.
We extend our deepest gratitude to Ken for his years of service and wish him all the best in his future endeavors.
