Veterans Park Playground
View Photos
Over
two decades ago, the Lucky Lanier “All Children’s Playground” was
designed and built with the assistance of the Kiwanis Club in order to allow
recreational opportunities for children of varying physical abilities. The
playground, which has seen a lot of use, was in desperate need of a total
face lift so the ATPD partnered once again with the Kiwanis Club of Anderson
Hills to incorporate $74,000 of renovations to this popular play area. The
fundraising was a three year effort on the part of Kiwanis and the ATPD to
create a unique and innovative play space, accessible to children of varying
physical and mental abilities.

The smaller of the two shelters, #2, is located at the back of Veterans Park, near the fire ring. The fire ring is available by permit only and is included with the rental of the small shelter. The semi-primitive fire ring provides a fun "camp site" atmosphere, terrific for scout groups and get-togethers. Shelter #2 seats 30 people inside the shelter and contains 2 picnic tables and 1 grill; the shelter is equipped with electrical outlets. Outside of the shelter are 6-8 tables which seat an additional 60 people.
